Hang The DJ User's Manual

HangTheDJ is an MP3 player that frees you from managing playlists.

There are two major modes of operation: listening to music in the Small View, and editing song data in the Large View.

Small View

Brief rundown:

All the controls are within Internet Explorer-like toolbar bands that can be dragged into different positions. In addition, right-clicking on an empty area of one of the button toolbars will let you customize the buttons' visibility and order.

Large View

ShareTheDJ

ShareTheDJ is an executable that runs on linux. The executable is named sharethedj. It is basically an HTTP server that listens for requests from HangTheDJ clients. Typically, you run it as root, specifying the port to listen on. Usage:

sharethedj <port> <certificate file> <passphrase>

The certificate file and passphrase are required but not used at this time - just type dummy values. That's about all you have to do. Then in HangTheDJ, specify the IP or URL of the linux box, along with the port. Any client that connects to the server will be able to view any other connected user, and request a view of their playlist. More to come!
